A bold idea to use our environment and educational institutions to develop world class summer family programs. Highlighting science in this way can bring numerous benefits : change the perspective of our community to one of science, filling resorts with quality programming in slow summer months, increase jobs in the community for students and educators who would be needed to run and develop programs, and more.....
FOUND ONLY IN SOUTHERN ARIZONA
- giving us an opportunity to develop and, promote nationally, a unique summer science program for students and families
- Climate : Biosphere - where manipulated climates can be studied. : Mt Lemon - where seven different zones can be seen in an hour : Sabino Canyon - a well studied eco system
- Astronomy : telescopes, dark skies and world class astronomers
- Geology : mines, museums, mountains & formations,minerals
- Caves : examples within a hour's travel of a living Cave: Kartchner Caverns (kept in pristine condition) and a dead cave: Colossal Cave (very well used and showing the ravages of human use)
- Desert environment : plants, animals etc including lifestyle adaptations
- Archeology and Anthropology : specialized desert environments
